Simple Connection

All data can be collected over the network, and ServerInternals does not require any additional software to be installed on a monitored computer.

A direct inbound network connection, typically over a firewall-friendly single TCP port, is all that is needed.

ServerInternals can connect to a system using one of four methods:

  • Using Windows Remote Managament (WinRM)
  • To an installed collector
  • Using WMI over DCOM & RPC
  • Via a remote gateway

WinRM is available on all recent operating systems by default, and can be enabled for Server 2008.

See Connection Methods for more information.
